How do I transfer a .com/.net domain to CommuniLink?
Initiating a domain transfer is easy, however every small steps should not be ignored.
Listed below are the steps of domain transfer procedure for .com/.net domains.
Note: A Losing Registrar means the current (old) registrar; the registrar to be transferred out.
Step 1) Make sure that the following information is valid and true
- WHOIS administrative email address
- Domain will not be expired in 1-2 months (depends on the registrar)
Step 2) Log in to the Domain Control Panel of the Losing Registrar
- The login information can be obtained from the registrar.
- If the domain was registered through an agent (such as web hosting service provider), please go to Step 4)
Step 3) Make sure the domain is unlocked
- Unlock the domain if its status is locked
Step 4) Obtain the Authorization Code
- If the domain was registered through an agent (such as web hosting service provider), please contact them for the authorization code.
- If not, you can request the authorization code through the domain control panel.
- The authorization code will be either shown directly in the domain control panel, or
- It will be sent to the WHOIS administrative email address.
Step 5) Provide your Authorization Code to CommuniLink
- We will initiate the transfer once the order payment is confirmed and that the authorization code is received.
Step 6) Wait for the agreement email and accept it by the fifth day
- Once CommuniLink submits the transfer request, the New Registrar will send an agreement email to the WHOIS administrative email address.
- Read the agreement email carefully, click on the confirmation link and input the validation code that is included in the email, or
- Simply forward that email to CommuniLink for further assistance.
Step 7) Transfer in progress
- It may take up to 14 business days to complete.
- If the transfer is successful:
- A notification email and the new domain control panel login information will be sent to the admin. contact email address (not the WHOIS administrative email address).
- The domain will be renewed for another extra year.
- If the domain registrar is transferred within 45 calendar days after the domain renewal from original registrar, the expiry date will remain the same. Hence, the domain will not be renewed for another extra year after the transfer.
- If the transfer is rejected or still pending, we will contact you for further advice. You may have to go again from Step 1 or Step 6.
Remarks:
-Our technical staff may provide you further instructions on completing the transfer process.
-Any transfer failure due to incomplete/insufficient documents/information or rejection by the losing Registrar or, for any reason, the transfer is cancelled by client, service fees are non-refundable.
